The bloggers
TWO EDUCATED, (MOSTLY) ORGANIZED, WORK AT HOME MAMAS WHO ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT HELPING OTHERS PREPARE TO MOM SMART
Alli
Wife, Mom, Blogger and Teacher
Hi there! I’m Alli. I am a creative and organized person by nature who is passionate about helping mothers through this crazy thing called motherhood. I believe that education, proper preparation and general know-how about life with a baby are our best tools to help us thrive through motherhood.
I have a Bachelors and Master’s degree in Education, and am a certified elementary and ESL teacher. When I transitioned from life in the classroom to life as a stay at home mom, I first made it possible by finding an online teaching opportunity .
Being a mom is the most intense, yet rewarding role I could have ever imagined. I am so lucky and blessed to experience it. However, being a mom without being surrounded by love and support is impossible. I am so grateful for the opportunity to share in your journey and support you in any way that I can.
When I’m not blogging or fulfilling my duties as mom, you will find me involved in a craft project, or trying out a new and (usually) healthy recipe in the kitchen. I love hiking and spending time outside with our three (!) hilarious dogs, relaxing on our deck, and working in the garden.
Trina
Wife, Mom, Blogger and Engineer
Hi, I’m Trina! I am ambitious, hard-working and love a challenge. My favorite challenge so far has been becoming a mother because nothing has pushed me further into finding out who I am, and helped me discover what I truly value in life. It was the community support and smart solutions from other moms that played a vital role in becoming the mother I wanted to be.
This blog has been my way of helping other moms by giving them what I wish I had when I was expecting and first starting out. I believe that nothing is more important during the transition to motherhood than proper planning and preparation
Never would I have imagined becoming a blogger before motherhood. However, blogging was the only thing that allowed me to be home with my children while still doing something that was mine. I have a PhD in Chemical Engineering which gave me a set of problem solving skills that I now apply to both motherhood and blogging. It is my passion to help other moms achieve the same opportunity.
I strive each day to spend more quality time with my family. I rejoice in the little moments that turn into memories. When not blogging or mom-ing, you will find me with a cup of coffee, enjoying the outdoors, or reading a book.

Our Journey
WHY MOM SMART NOT HARD?
We are two moms who met through motherhood. Regularly running into each other at baby events slowly evolved into being each other’s sounding boards for all things about motherhood.
As we grew closer, we began to share more and more with each other about our individual journeys, all the way from bump to baby. We shared the joys, regrets, challenges, and changes. We swapped stories and advice with other mamas in our community. Time and time again, we remarked at how little support, or preparing advice there seemed to be for expecting and new moms navigating the path into motherhood.
We soon realized we both had a passion for helping moms during this special time in their lives and wanted to find a way to make it happen. Mom Smart Not Hard became our platform for reaching and supporting other mothers from the time they are expecting to baby.
HOW MOM SMART NOT HARD EVOLVED
As we began to share our stories, advice and help others learn from our mistakes, we were blown away by the positive response to what we were putting out there. We never imagined this kind of reach or impact was possible! We are so grateful for the ability to reach so many other Mamas and are thrilled to be making even the smallest difference in their lives.
As time went on and we shared interactions with more and more expecting mamas, we decided to utilize our passion for organization and creativity to develop a resource to help women prepare for baby. We were frustrated with the lack of options out there to recommend. We found that so much of what expectant mothers rely on to help them prepare for baby is completely medical.
With that, the Nesting Planner was born! Our very own organizational and planning tool designed just for you to help you stress-less and get completely ready for baby. We thought of everything, from home, to parties, planning for support people, to your relationship, breastfeeding and more. Planning and preparing to become a mother during pregnancy is the best thing you can do to truly make the transition a bit easier.
FLEXIBLE INCOME AS A STAY AT HOME MOM
As Mom Smart Not Hard continued to grow, we realized how lucky we were to have found a flexible source of income that allows us to make a difference in the lives of other moms and stay home with our babies. We are passionate about helping other moms make this dream a reality too!
Once we became mamas, we both found ways to continue making an income without staying at our traditional jobs. At first, we did this in very different ways! Alli initially became an online teacher , and Trina started this blog. But we know that all mamas have different talents and backgrounds. So, we’ve researched and compiled a wealth of work-at-home opportunities that can work for every mom.
BUMP SMART, BIRTH SMART, BABY SMART
We’ve realized that almost every other pregnancy preparation and planning tool focuses solely on the growth and development of baby. Is this a vital part of pregnancy? Absolutely! But resources that help you spend your 9 months preparing for motherhood and life with a baby will really make the difference once that newborn comes home.
For that reason, we’ve focused most of our content here at Mom Smart Not Hard on the preparing, troubleshooting, and learning curve associated with pregnancy, birth, newborns and babies.
Bump Smart: For the expecting mamas among you. Find content, organized by trimester, that will help you maximize your time in a way that prepares you for motherhood (and keep more comfortable while you’re at it!)
Birth Smart : The event of birth is one of the most life changing experiences. Sure, understanding the process and medical side is vital, but there are logistical planning and organization aspects to birth we don’t want you to overlook. Content in the Birth Smart section will prepare you for birth in every realm. We’ll help you birth with greater confidence and less stress.
Baby Smart: Breastfeeding, sleep, and thriving as a new mom. Baby Smart will help break down some of the common obstacles mamas face. Here we continue to support you on your motherhood journey with carefully-researched advice for moms by moms.
LET'S MOM SMART TOGETHER
Our greatest hope is that we can help make your life a little bit easier, a little less stressful, and a little bit happier after your visit. We’d be honored to join you on every step of your journey into motherhood.
